Valley Voices Community Choir was originally known as The Tri-Cees "Cougar" Community Chorale. The Cougar is the official mascot of Lehigh Carbon Community College and that is where we were founded. Two employees of the school who had a passion for singing thought it would be fun to have a creative outlet for the students, faculty, staff, and the community to share their love for music. The Tri-Cees has since grown into a group of people from the community who simply want to be able to sing in a relaxed and friendly environment. We are grateful to LCCC for allowing us to rehearse and perform on their beautiful main campus in Schnecksville PA for many years. We are now thrilled to be able to continue to share our love of music at United Presbyterian Church in Slatington PA.
Valley Voices Community Choir is an all-inclusive group with singers of all ages. The wide variety of music ranging from pop and Broadway to Spirituals provides something for every musical taste.
Of course! We are always looking for new and enthusiastic singers of all ages! Our Fall term begins on September 9th and we'd love you to join us!
No auditions are necessary. Singers of all skill levels are welcome!
No problem! While knowing how to read SATB sheet music is helpful, it is definitely not required. Bringing your love of singing with others is what is most important. After a few rehearsals, though, you may start to learn something about reading music that you did not know before.
In order to cover recurring costs including the price of music there is a fee of $50 per semester.
Rehearsals are held on Tuesday evenings from 7-8:30 P.M. in the sanctuary of United Presbyterian Church, located in Slatington, PA. We meet from September to May with a small break between our two semesters. We do not meet or perform during the summer months.
We perform two main concerts each year on a date determined by the group at the end of each semester (December and May) in the sanctuary of United Presbyterian Church in Slatington, PA. In addition, we also perform at various venues within the Allentown area. Luther Crest is a favorite. In the past, we have also performed for the residents at Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Hospital. These performances usually take place during the end of each semester.
We understand that occasional situations will arise that may prevent you from making a rehearsal. However, if you are going to be absent, we request that you kindly send an email to the director. The more rehearsals you attend will make you feel more confident about learning the music and mastering specific dynamics in preparation for the main concert which is held at the end of each semester. In addition, the rehearsals will likely become one of the high points of your week since we have so much fun learning and singing together! While attending and performing in the main concert is required, participating in additional performances is optional.
